In childhood, it is necessary to grow a healthy skeleton to support a growing body.
Between the ages of 30 and 35, peak bone mass is reached. Bones stop growing and their density is at its highest. The greater this peak bone mass, the less likely your bones are to become porous and fragile later on.
Vegetarians seem to be more efficient than omnivores at absorbing calcium. The recommended daily allowances might not be appropriate for people who consume little or no animal protein.
