Free radicals and cellular oxidative stress

As usual, a healthy balance is required.

It means:

  1. Enough antioxidants in the diet.
  2. Efficient enzyme systems in our body
  3. A normal production of free radicals

When the balance is broken between these three factors, our body cannot keep up with free radicals and opens the door to oxidative stress.

Oxidative stress is associated with:
Cancer
Arteriosclerosis
Heart disease
Stroke
Rheumatoid arthritis
Osteoporosis
Aging
Alzheimer disease
Parkinson's Disease
Cataracts
